KEVIN VOLK

ARIZONA STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | DISTRICT 17 | INCUMBENT

2026: RUNNING

2024: WIN

Representative Kevin Volk won his 2024 race for Arizona’s 17th Legislative District with the support of Sister District. Since then, he has championed affordable housing, boosted early childhood education funding, and advanced water conservation technologies to protect Arizona’s long-term future.

A Tucson native, Kevin has dedicated his career to service and community. He taught fifth grade, interned for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, served as a Fulbright scholar in Mexico, and later founded a small business creating affordable, sustainable prefabricated housing in Tucson. Recognized by United Way for his advocacy on early education and a Flinn-Brown Fellow, Volk combines deep community roots with proven leadership.

Why This Race Is Important

Kevin’s race is a must-win if Democrats want a chance at governing in a majority. With the governorship open in 2026 and razor-thin Republican majorities in the legislature, holding Kevin’s district means not only defending a Democratic foothold in Southern Arizona but also strengthening our path to take the House which currently stands at 33 Republicans and 27 Democrats.

Why Arizona is important

Arizona was once a reliable Republican stronghold, and although Trump reclaimed the state in 2024, Arizona is now considered as a true swing state where Democrats flipped key statewide offices and presidential votes in recent years. Heading into the 2026 midterms, control of the legislature and governorship is up for grabs. Democratic victories in Arizona means safeguarding reproductive freedom, climate action, and voting rights while maintaining momentum for Democrats at the national level.
